Jerry Darnell, Chief Academic Officer of Elementary Schools
Welcome to DeSoto County Schools! We have highly committed staff, parents, and community support at each one of our schools to meet the academic, emotional, and social challenges our students face growing up in today's world. We expect our students to meet high achievement standards in an environment that is friendly and nurturing. We made great gains in achievement last year, and we intend on going higher this school year.
The DeSoto County Schools (DCS) have almost 14,700 kindergarten through fifth grade students in 23 elementary and intermediate schools. We strive to provide the students with safe, child-centered schools that promote success in academic areas. Our schools are committed to creative activities which include art, music, and physical education at each grade level.
Please let me know if I can ever be of assistance and please do not forget to visit all of our programs, initiatives and instructional pages.
