DeArries Smith, a freshman at Hernando High School and his brother DySaun, a seventh grader at Hernando Middle School were recently selected as winners in Rack Room Shoes 2008 Annual Models wanted search. They were entered in the model search contest by their mother at the Southaven Town Center store in Southaven. Last month they were flown to Charlotte, NC to participate in a photo shoot for Rack Room Shoes Back to School advertising campaign shot at The University of North Carolina.

The Smith boys were shocked when they found out they had won because they had forgot their mother had entered them. “I was so excited I just started running around,” said eleven year old DySaun. Like his older brother DeArries, whose goals include playing in the NBA, DySaun loves basketball and football.

To enter the contest, DeArries and DySaun’s mother Sheresa filled out a brief entry form and included snapshots of her boys. Both DeArries and DySaun are fans of Rack Room Shoes because they like the shoes “and my mom gets a military discount,” adds DySaun. “I shop at Rack Room because of the price and variety,” said Sheresa. “I have two boys, so I like the buy on get one promotion. Rack Room has the shoes and brands my kids like so the whole family can shop at one place.”

Jan Mauldin, Rack Room Shoes director of marketing, says she’s delighted the Smiths entered Rack Room Shoes fifth annual Models Wanted Contest. “We’re thrilled to have DeArries and DySaun as two of our models. They are the essence of what Rack Room Shoes represents. They are both young boys who enjoy playing outdoors in the pool and taking care of their pug named Snoop. Our store offers great prices and selection for customers just like the Smith family.”

The Smiths and other 2008 winners are featured on Rack Room’s website at www.rackroomshoes.com. They have also been appearing in Rack Room Shoes Back to School materials in stores since July 22nd and will be in Rack Room Shoes Sunday newspaper insert on August 19th.
Rack Room Shoes launches the 2009 Models Wanted contest mid-September. The contest runs through December 31st and entrants can sign up at any of Rack Room’s 378 stores in 26 states.
