Coach JJ Downs

Coach JJ Downs is now in his fourth season as head coach of the Center Hill High School
Cross-Country program. He currently teaches elementary P.E. at Overpark Elementary. A
native of Yazoo City, MS. Downs graduated from Benton Academy in 1994 where he lettered
in football, basketball, track, tennis, and baseball.  He received his associate degree
from Holmes Community in 1997. He received his bachelor's degree in teaching and coaching
from Mississippi State University in 2000 and a master's degree in teaching and coaching
from Mississippi State in 2002. Downs was a three sport letterman winner at Holmes
Community College from 1996-1997.  He also lettered in Track and Field at Mississippi
State University where he was a member of the track team from 1997-1999. Downs began his
coaching career at Mississippi State University as the administrative assistant coach in
2000. He then moved on to Jacksonville State University from 2003-2005, Bevill State
Community College from 2005-2006 and Troy University from 2006-2008.
