Things I Have Learned
Things I Have Learned
About fifteen years ago a fellow teacher gave me a handout of proverbs, saws, and everyday wisdom. I have no idea how old the handout was, but it was printed with the old purple duplicator ink.
Over the years I have shared these words of wisdom and wit with everyone I could. I do not remember the teacher's name, but I am very thankful that she took the time to share with me.
In the end, that is education - you do your best to give people something they can use in life, and you may not learn for years(if ever) whether there was any result.

I have learned that most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.
Most of the things I worry about never happen.
Nothing of value comes without effort.
It's not what happens to me that matters. It's what I do about it.
Even when I have pains, I don't have to be a pain.
No matter how thin you slice it, there are two sides to every story.
I can not expect other people to solve my problems.
Kindness is more important than perfection.
Self-pity is a waste of time.
If I can be brilliant or pleasant, I should choose pleasant.
Anger manages everything poorly.
Life sometimes gives you a second chance.
Everyone is attractive when he or she smiles.
I should make little decisions with my head and big ones with my heart.
