  It is my sincere desire to insure an excellent academic education built on solid moral absolutes for the students at DeSoto Central Elementary School.  Our facilities, equipment, and staff are second to none, and the opportunity to impact the lives for the future remains our greatest challenge.  Our philosophy can best be summed up by the slogan painted on our front hall..."TOMORROW'S LEADERS ARE HERE TODAY."

Our students have an opportunity to learn, explore, and achieve under the direction of highly qualified and dedicated teachers.  Our curriculum is challenging and includes the basic skills of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

In order to develop the whole child, we offer physical education, fine arts, including art appreciation and vocal music geared to performance and the development of musical ability.  A fully equipped media center with over 10,000 volumes is available for student and faculty use.  The computer lab is equipped with the latest technology, and students are instructed weekly in basic computer skills, word processing, and the use of the internet. 

The S.P.O.T.L.I.G.H.T. program targets students who are intellectually gifted.  Special services are also available for students who have different learning needs and abilities from those offered in the regular classroom.  Guidance personnel are trained and dedicated to providing classroom instruction and support from a unique perspective.

Discipline, self respect, respect for others and character development are vital components of school life at D.C.E.S.  Principals, teachers, and support staff are expected to live as examples to our students.  We desire that our students see in our lives those things that we believe will make them successful as caring, contributing citizens of the world in which they will live in the future.
