Progression of Classes

Students must meet certain requirements in order to be prepared for advanced classes.  The teachers and administration of DCHS have determined that the following standards should be met before students are enrolled in certain classes.  These prerequisites will go into effect for the 2011-2012 school year. 

Business, Computer, and Vocational Classes:

Desktop Publishing I

Prerequisite:  Keyboarding and Computer Applications or Computer Discovery

Desktop Publishing II

Prerequisite:  Desktop Publishing I

Web Design I

Prerequisite:  Keyboarding and Computer Applications or Computer Discovery

Web Design II

Prerequisite:  Web Design I

Accounting II

Prerequisite:  Accounting I

Mathematics:

Algebra II

Prerequisites:  Algebra I and Geometry

Statistics

Prerequisites:  Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II

Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus

Prerequisites:  Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II

College Algebra

Prerequisites:  Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II

Calculus

Prerequisites:  Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus

AP Calculus

Prerequisite:  An average of 95 or higher in Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus

Science:

Chemistry I

Prerequisites:  Algebra I and Biology I

Chemistry II

Prerequisites:  Algebra II and an average of 80 or higher in Chemistry I

AP Chemistry

Prerequisites:  Chemistry II

Physics

Prerequisites:  Algebra II and an average of 80 or higher in Chemistry I

Genetics

Prerequisites:  An average of 80 or higher in both Algebra I and Biology I

Human Anatomy and Physiology

Prerequisites:  An average of 80 or higher in Biology I

Biology II

Prerequisites:  An average of 80 or higher in Biology I

AP Environmental Science

Prerequisites:  Must have completed Chemistry I and be classified as a Junior or Senior.

English:

Accelerated English

Prerequisite:  An average of 90 or higher in the previous year's regular English class or an average of 85 or higher in the previous year's accelerated English class

Foreign Language

Latin II

Prerequisite:  An average of 70 or higher in Latin I

Spanish II

Prerequisite:  An average of 70 or higher in Spanish I

 


 

 

 

 

TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS 

Transcript request forms are available in the counseling office.  You must complete the form and attach a stamped envelope that has been addressed to requested recipient.  All transcript requests will be processed within 7 school days.  Please plan ahead so that your transcript will be processed and mailed in plenty of time for your deadline. Any past graduates must request their transcripts from the District office (429-5271).

SCHEDULE CHANGES

Any schedule change requests must be submitted on the "Schedule Change Request" form and signed by a parent.  NO REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY PHONE!  The counselors will process these changes as quickly as possible, but the student must follow the original schedule until a new schedule is issued.
