History

As a means to manage the growth of DeSoto County Schools, the DeSoto Central School District was conceived from the redrawing of existing school lines.  Our school system pulls from from the cities of Nesbit, Southaven, and Olive Branch and DeSoto Central has become a community in its own right.

August 12, 2003 marked the beginning for DeSoto Central.  The opening of DeSoto Central High School made the Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade facility on Central Parkway complete. With the first graduating class of 2006, our premier educational program is now complete.

The DeSoto Central Jaguars are the lone DeSoto County program that will be impacted by the process as the Jags will move from 1-A to 4-A, one of the largest jumps in the history of the governing body of Mississippi high school sports.
