"Learning is a Journey, Not a Destination"

Introduction

The goal of the Professional Development Program of the DeSoto County School District is to continuously increase student achievement through ongoing efforts to improve teacher quality.  The program includes continuing education at the school, district, state, and national levels.  Opportunities are planned based on needs assessments compiled at both the school and district levels.  Professional Development opportunities include focused faculty meetings, study groups, continuing education courses, and approved learning experiences at external sites.  Professional Development requirements regarding contract renewal and re-licensure are outlined at the hyperlinks above.
