NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION

Are you new to DeSoto County Schools or a returning employee?

Please plan to attend New Employee Orientation
New hires for DeSoto County Schools must attend an Employee Orientation prior to their start date.  Sessions for new hires will be held on selected dates between August and July of the school year.  To schedule a time to attend orientation, please call 662-449-7160.

How Long will New Employee Orientation last?
New Employee Orientation will last between two to three hours.  New employee’s paperwork will be reviewed, benefits will be discussed and you will be fingerprinted for a background check and have a District ID Badge made during your visit.

Background Checks

All employees and volunteers of DeSoto County Schools must be fingerprinted for a background check. See link regarding DCS Backround Checks.

Required Documents for New Employee Orientation
The following information is provided in the New Hire Packet.  New Hire Packets will be given to the new employee from their immediate supervisor.

  • Identification and completed I-9 - You may review the list of acceptable documents by selecting this link.  DCS uses E-Verify to verify eligibility .You will be required to present either one (1) document from list A OR one (1) document from list B AND one (1) document from list C. Federal Law requires that you must present original documents.
  • Social Security Card.
  • Social Security numbers, and birth dates for dependents (if applicable).
  • Social Security numbers and birth dates of those you will name as beneficiaries.
  • Certified Teaching License (if applicable)
  • Completed Tax Forms
  • Completed Emergency Contact Information
  • Completed Verification of Experience ( if applicable)
  • Completed Insurance paperwork ( if applicable)
  • Completed EEOC Form

PLEASE NOTE:  All new hires must have proper documents on file in the Personnel Office in order to be approved by the DCS Board for employment.
