Parents and Students: Click the link above to locate your bus stop and the scheduled pick-up and drop-off times. Bus numbers are also available, but are subject to change with little or no notice. Students will be picked up at approved stops. Riders must then complete and submit a bus pass to the driver prior to boarding in the afternoon. The bus driver will keep the bus pass as a reference card.

Problems: Technical issues on the website are typically caused by corrupted map data or multiple spellings for the same street, road or highway. (i.e. East Goodman, Goodman Rd E, Hwy 302, Highway 302 E).

What is a Non-Eligibility Zone?

A Non-Eligibility Zone (NEZ) is an area, within one mile of a school, in which bus service is not provided.

MS Code 37-41-3 Pupils Entitled to Transportation; Pupils of legal school age, which shall include kindergarten pupils, and in actual attendance in the public schools who live a distance of one (1) mile or more by the nearest traveled road from the school to which they are assigned."

What about cell phones?

Possession of electronic equipment (beepers, telephones, etc.) without prior approval of the administration is a Code of Discipline Level-II offense (2-6) punishable by fine and the item may be confiscated.

How safe are our school buses?

School buses have proven to be the safest mode of transportation for students locally and nationwide. Many factors contribute to a school bus's superior safety record. The design, visibility and sturdy construction of a school bus is only part of the equation.  Professionally trained, certified and caring drivers are important to keeping students safe.

Desoto County bus drivers are subject to a thorough background check and pre-employment drug screening. Annual and random drug and alcohol screenings are also conducted.  All bus drivers must be in possession of a current Commercial Drivers License with Passenger-(P) and Safety-(S) endorsements and pass a DOT physical. In addition recertification is required every two years along wih several hours of in-service training conducted several time per year. Drivers are held to the highest professional standards and are supervised and supported in order to ensure students are transported safely each and every day.

Do school buses have cameras?

All Desoto County school buses have a security camera mounted. Although information recorded is not for public access, the timely administrative review of these devices has been an excellent tool for enhancing professional and safe operations.
