Tardy Policy
An unexcused tardy occurs when a student is not in the classroom when the bell rings. If a student reports to school any time after the 7:25 a.m. bell rings, he/she is considered tardy. Students who report to school before 7:40 can report directly to 1st period, and the 1st period teacher will record the tardy. Students who report to school after 7:40 must receive a tardy slip from the attendance clerk. For example, if a student arrives just before 2nd period begins, he/she cannot report directly to 2nd period even if he/she is on time for that class. If a student fails to check in with the attendance clerk, he/she will be considered as being insubordinate and skipping class.
Penalties for Tardies:
- 1st - 4th tardy: no punishment
- 5th tardy: home suspension (parent must return to school with student the next school day)
- 7th tardy: three days of ALC OR home suspension (parent must return to school with student the next school day)
- 9th tardy: two day suspension OR home suspension (parent must return to school with student the next school day)
- all others: three day suspension AND parent must return to school with student the next school day
If a student returns to campus without being accompanied by a parent after given a home suspension, the student will be considered as trespassing.
