Lucy Hasselman, Principal

Lucy Hasselman grew up in Oxford, MS and graduated from Lafayette High School.  She attended Mississippi College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s of Education.  She also received a Master’s of Education and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.  She has been a teacher and administrator for 15 years.  For the past three years, she has served as the Director of Secondary Education for DeSoto County Schools.  She is married to Jay Hasselman, and they have one daughter, Ann Morgan.

Jacob Stripling, Assistant Principal

Mr. Stripling comes to HLMS after working as a physical education teacher and as an administrative intern with Desoto County Schools.  Originally from Lexington, TN, he now resides in Hernando with his wife and daughter.  Mr. Stripling has a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance and a Master's degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin.  He also holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.  Prior to entering the education profession, Mr. Stripling worked as an athletic trainer for Campbell Clinic and provided sports medicine coverage for athletic teams.  He is proud to be a member of the HLMS staff and looks forward to helping each student reach their potential.

 

Findley

Marco Findley, Assistant Principal

Mr. Findley has nine years of teaching and mentoring experience at elementary and middle school levels. He spent the past four years working in Desoto County Schools. As an administrative intern, Mr. Findley served at Horn Lake Middle. He feels honored and blessed for the second opportunity to partner with the community, faculty, staff, and students at HLMS. He has a Specialist’s degree from Delta State University in Educational Leadership, a Master's degree from Mississippi College in Elementary Education (4-8), and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in Business Management. Mr. Findley is married to Tungyel. They have two wonderful boys, Marco and Makhi. The Findley family resides in Olive Branch, but travels often to Como and Holly Springs visiting relatives. Faith, family, and fun are the anchors that govern his life.

 

 

 

ROBERT CUSHMAN, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Mr. Cushman was born and raised in Shelby, NC, and graduated from Shelby High School in 1996. He and his wife Alena moved to Mississippi in 2002, when he joined the Mississippi Teacher Corps. After teaching at Rosa Fort High School in Tunica, MS, Mr. Cushman began his time teaching in Desoto County in 2004 at Olive Branch Middle School. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and a Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Cushman also holds an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Delta State University. In his free time, Mr. Cushman enjoys playing with his two beautiful young children, Lia and Caden.  The Cushman family attends Minor Memorial United Methodist Church in Walls.
