Mission Statement |
|
| History of OBMS In 1972, Olive Branch Middle School opened its doors to approximately 700 students in grades 5-8. The campus was located at 8631 Pigeon Roost. Constructed in 1958, this facility was formerly known as East Side High School. The first OBMS administrator was Mr. Wendell Davis. In 1975, Mr. Ken Reid became assistant principal. Mr. Reid assumed the position of principal in 1981 with Ms. Brenda Farrow as assistant principal. As Olive Branch continued to grow, a new high school was built. In 1996, our school moved to the old Olive Branch High School located on 6530 Blocker Street. The original buildings on this campus were constructed in 1949. Construction of the new band hall and sixth grade building was completed in 2002. In the spring of 2004, Mr. Ken Reid was promoted to assistant superintendent at the County Board of Education. Ms. Farrow served as interim principal for the remainder of the school year. In the fall of 2004, Mr. Danny Freeze joined us as principal. After his retirement in 2008, Mr. Mike McCoy came to us from Southaven Middle School. Currently, eighty-five faculty and staff members serve a student body of approximately 900. We continue our educational excellence with the motto, "Scholarship, Spirit, and Sportsmanship." |
