 Shane Jones, Principal

Shane Jones, a 1997 graduate of Southaven High School, has come home to his alma mater to serve as Principal.  Once a Charger, always a Charger!

Mr. Jones received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Mississippi and a Masters Degree of Educational Leadership from Delta State University.

He taught Social Studies and Computer Discovery for four years at DeSoto Central Middle School; he also coached softball, basketball, and track.  The next three years he served as Assistant Principal at Southaven Middle School before moving to SHS as an Assistant Principal.

Mr. Jones is married to the former Phyllis Manley (also a SHS graduate); they have two young sons.  He is a member of Getwell Road United Methodist Church.  His interests include hunting, golfing, and watching Ole Miss football.

 

 

   

Michelle Bordwell, Assistant Principal

Michelle Bordwell comes to Southaven High School after teaching mathematics for 7 years.  She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Louisville and taught in both Indiana and Kentucky.  After moving to Olive Branch in 2006, Mrs. Bordwell taught mathematics and Algebra at Olive Branch Middle School.  

Mrs. Bordwell grew up in Collierville, TN and earned her Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin.  She went on to earn her law degree from the University of Memphis, practicing in Tennessee, Indiana, and Kentucky.

She and her husband, Mark, and daughter, Gracie currently live in Olive Branch.  She and her family are members of Getwell Road United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Bordwell enjoys cooking, eating, and spending time with family and friends.

She is proud to now be a Southaven Charger!

Kelley Densford, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Kelley Densford graduated from Elliston Baptist Academy in Memphis, TN.  After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis, she taught Science and English in Tennessee.  Mrs. Densford taught fourth grade at DeSoto Central Elementary for 7 years.  During this time she received her special education endorsement and earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.  She was Assistant Principal at Shadow Oaks Elementary before becoming a Southaven Charger.

Mrs. Densford lives in Olive Branch and is married to Keith Densford.  Together they have four boys.  Their oldest son lives in Oakland, TN with his wife, Jennifer.  The other three sons -  Tyler, Tanner, and Trey, are triplets and are seniors at Lewisburg High School.

Mrs. Densford and her family are members of First Baptist Church in Olive Branch.

  

 

Matt Smith, Assistant Principal

Ernest Matthew Smith is a graduate of Horn Lake High School.  He received his B.S. in Business Administration from Lane College in Jackson, TN.  Mr. Smith earned his teacher certification at the University of Memphis and completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Mississippi.  He comes to SHS after teaching mathematics and coaching boys and girls basketball for 11 years.

Mr. Smith is married to Claudia Smith and has three children.

A member of Church of the Word Worship and Praise in Memphis, he enjoys fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and basketball.

 

 

 Dr. Juanita Thompson, Assistant Principal

Dr. Thompson brings to SHS  an extensive career in education, having served for over 25 years as teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Memphis City Schools. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel College, and her Master of Education degree from the University of Memphis.  She received her Ph.D. from the University of Memphis in the area of Leadership and Policy Development.  She is an approved evaluator for the Southern Assn. of Colleges and Schools. 

Early in her career, Dr. Thompson  was an actress with the Trinity Players, an off-Broadway drama group, appearing in The Crucible, Henry VIII, and The Ballad of John Henry as well as directing The Miracle Worker and the children's theatre production of Reynard the Fox

 Dr. Thompson also has a strong interest in curriculum, having served as co-author and editor in remedial reading for Silver-Burdett Publishers.  She enjoys being part of the SHS family and supporting the Chargers' teams and activities.
