SOES History

Shadow Oaks Elementary opened its doors in 1990. The first principal was Mr. Charlie Alexander who served only one year before being promoted to the district office. In 1991, Mrs. Gayle Heaton was named principal and served in that position until her retirement in June 2001.  Mrs. Lynda Pointer served as principal from 2001 until her retirement in June 2005.  Currently, Ms. Traci Suiter is the Principal.  Mrs. Lorie Lundy and Mrs. Cynthia Dixon are the Assistant Principals.  We are very fortunate to have such a great administrative TEAM:)

Shadow Oaks Elementary School was rated a level 3 school in the 2004 – 2005 school year.  In the 2005-2006 school year, our school was rated a level 5, which is the highest level that can be obtained. The efforts of our principal have not gone unnoticed. Shadow Oaks Elementary received a Healthy School Grant and has been published in a CDC manual that gives examples of schools that have successfully met the challenge of becoming a Healthy School.  In addition, our school met all areas of AYP and exceeded growth.  Project Fit is another jewel in our crown that helps us to meet the requirements of being a Healthy School.  Everyone at Shadow Oaks Elementary is excited and proud to be a part of an extraordinary TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves Miracles).

Our main goal at the present time is to carry the torch, maintain excellence,  provide a safe environment, promote academic GROWTH, and implement extracurricular activities.
