I have been in education since 1993.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades; 7th through 12th grade science; 7th and 8th grade Math, Algebra, and Transitions to Algebra, Health, P.E., and Learning Strategies.  I have taught in Monroe, Louisiana, Brandon and Southaven, Mississippi as well as Nashville, Tennessee. I was assistant principal and athletic director at Strayhorn Jr High and High School, Assistant Principal at Southaven High School and I am delighted to join the staff and students at Shadow Oaks Elementary as Assistant Principal.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeast Louisiana University, Master of Education degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Education Specialist degree from Mississippi College, and have completed coursework for my doctorate and working on my dissertation at Mississippi College.

My husband, Ben, and I are both administrators. We currently live in Olive Branch with our daughter Marley who is a cheerleader and honor student at Lewisburg High School.  We have three other children: Brittany is a graduate of MSU and is currently in Physical Therapy school at UMMC, Blair is an EMT attending nursing school at Hinds, and Lauren is a secondary math major at HCC.

I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, the sun and the beach, working out, and I have danced in the Nutcracker with my children and my husband numerous times.

I would like everyone to know how excited I am to be a part of the Shadow Oaks TEAM.  Shadow Oaks has a reputation for being a safe, academic school that focuses on each individual child's success.  Its educators are known to be united in their pursuit for curricular success, parental involvement, and working together to ensure all children have the best educational experiences possible.  Having the oppurtunity to work with a TEAM that centers its attention on children's achievements is a privilege.

As a child, I grew up in the outskirts of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and worked extremely hard on the farm.  Children are my passion.  I currently live in Olive Branch with my husband, Jarrod, and two children Tye, who is eleven, and Jace, who is seven.  Family is important and the family unit is the strength of every child.

I have been an educator for the past 16.5 years.  I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters degree in curriculum and instruction.  Over the past several years, I have enjoyed working closely with fellow teachers to improve teachingstrategies and units.  This led to my interest in administration.  Obtaining my specialist's degree only confirmed my passion for educational leadership.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to grow as a leader and help teachers and parents improve educational experiences for children.  It is an honor to be a member of the Shadow Oaks Elementary School TEAM. :)
