As Associate Superintendent of Academic Services, I am honored to lead an exceptional group of staff who are devoted to providing support to teachers, students, and parents. The vision for the Academic Services Department is to have a shared responsibility with principals, teachers, and parents as WE work to provide an enriched and rewarding learning experience for all DeSoto County students.

The Academic Services team consists of all academic programs which include Career and Technical Education, Leadership Development, Research and Accountability, Special Education, Federal Programs, English Learners, and Academics. Personnel from these departments will work closely with you to provide the necessary assistance, resources, and training opportunities designed to support student achievement and to enhance classroom instruction.

As our superintendent has stated on numerous occasions, exciting days lie ahead for DeSoto County Schools, and this district has the potential to be one of the best school districts in the nation.

I wish you much success this school year!

Thomas Spencer
