The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) developed family guides to assist with grade-level at home strategies and activities that support both student and parent understanding of the English language arts and mathematics standards. Parents can use the activity booklets at home to support what their children are learning in the classroom.

The primary goal of the Literacy Based Promotion Act is to create proficient readers by the third grade.  This law requires all third graders to pass the Mississippi  or they will not be promoted to the fourth grade unless the student meets the good cause exemption criteria.  Click on the links to learn more about this legislation.
The purpose of these documents is to provide a deeper understanding of the Standards.

Based on the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards, these documents provide a close analysis of the requirements for student mastery. Because of the rigor and depth of the Standards, scaffolding instruction to meet the needs of all learners is essential.
